DOMINICA AND VENEZUELA OFFER BEST WISHES TO ST. KITTS AND NEVIS ON ITS 40 YEARS OF NATIONHOOD

Basseterre, St. Kitts, September 18, 2023 (SKNIS): The Commonwealth of Dominica and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela have extended best wishes to St. Kitts and Nevis on its attainment of 40 years of Independence, which will be celebrated on the 19th of September.  

In a congratulatory message addressed to H.E. Dame Marcella Liburd GCMG, JP, Governor General of St. Kitts and Nevis, H.E. Charles A. Savarin, President of the Commonwealth of Dominica said:

“On behalf of the Government and the people of the Commonwealth of Dominica and also on behalf of myself and Mrs. Savarin, I extend best wishes and sincere congratulations to Your Excellency and to the Government and people of St. Kitts and Nevis on the occasion of the celebration of the Anniversary of your Independence on 19th September 2023.

“This is a time to continue to celebrate the lasting friendship between our two countries. Dominica looks forward to our continued cooperation and collaboration through the sharing of ideas, and the strengthening of our commitments to the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), the Commonwealth, the Organization of American States (OAS), the United Nations, and other regional and international organizations to which we both belong.”

In a congratulatory note to the Right Honourable Dr. Denzil Douglas, Minister of Foreign Affairs of St. Kitts and Nevis, Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Mr. Yvan Gil wrote:

“On behalf of the People, the Bolivarian Government of Venezuela, and on my own behalf, I would like to extend my sincere congratulations for the commemoration of the 40th Anniversary of the Independence of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.

“In the framework of this celebration, it is appropriate to remember all those persons who made great sacrifices so today the Federation of the Twin Islands enjoy the fervor and strength that now characterize it as an independent nation, thanks to the legacy of patriots faithful to their commitments, such as the political leader, Sir Caleb Azariah Paul Southwell.

“From Venezuela, we reiterate our support to this sister Caribbean nation, as well as our commitment to continue strengthening the relations that have characterized us, in favour of the development of the great Latin American region.”
