Mr Stanley Franks has passed away

Basseterre, St. Kitts- Mr. Stanley Franks Jr. started in football when in 1952 to 1956 he was the goalkeeper for the cup winning Boys Brigade team in the second division.

From 1957 to 1966 he played for Manchester United Garden Hotspurs, Blackpool and Santos. In 1968 he was appointed manager of the St. Kitts team of the LIFA tournament and made several appearances as Manager thereafter. 

He joined the Football Association in 1958 and was elected President in 1979. He has served as Secretary, Treasurer and was always on the management committee up to 1994. He was elected the first secretary to St. Kitts Referees Association and refereed local and regional matches from 1970 to 1985.

St. Kitts as an inaugural member of CFU in 1978 under the presidency of Mr. Karlweis Liburd and the Rt Hon Dr. Denzil Douglas was the sitting secretary who represented St. Kitts at the meeting in French Guiana.

In 1989 Mr. Franks was appointed member of the Shell Cup Organising Committee and by 1990 was elected to the Management Committee of CFU. He served as a CFU Match Commissionary, Members of the CONCACAF Disciplinary Commission Member of the CONCACAF Fair Play Commission,Member of CONCACAF Legal Commission and Member of CONCACAF Administrative Panel from 1990 to 1995.
In 1992 he led St. Kitts and Nevis to the Membership of FIFA and CONCACAF.

Mr. Franks is, up to now, the only appointed Manager of West Indies Football Team. Having managed the first Caribbean Football team to England in 1993. He holds honorary membership of the St. Kitts-Nevis Football Association and is still actively involved as a member of the Players’ Status Committee
