The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Marine Resources, through its Department of Marine Resources hosted a Diamondback Squid Processing Workshop on Tuesday, 17th October 2023 as part of its World Food Day Week of Activities.
The processing took place at the Basseterre Fisheries Complex and gave technical staff the opportunity to learn how to make use of underutilized species.
This practical session comes a few months after staff completed a theoretical squid fishing workshop in February.
Exploring the diamondback Squid as a fishery can add economic benefits to St. Kitts and Nevis and bolsters the efforts of the government to enhance food security while also improving the livelihood of fisherfolk in the twin island federation.
