Hon Samal Duggins : As the Minister and Parliamentary Representative for the community of Challengers to New Guinea, it is with a heavy heart that I address the recent heartbreaking event in Old Road. The loss of life due to senseless violence is a matter of profound sadness and concern.
Some nights ago, our constituency was shaken by a tragic incident that took the life of one of our citizens, a life full of potential and promise. I am deeply saddened by this loss and extend my sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Glenville Syder. In this time of grief, we stand with you, sharing in your pain and loss.
Violence has no place in our community. It erodes the very core of our society and strips away the sense of safety and belonging that every individual deserves. Each act of violence leaves a permanent scar on the fabric of our community, impacting not just the immediate families but each one of us as members of this society.
As we mourn, I urge everyone in our constituency and beyond to reflect on the impact of such incidents. Let us come together in a collective effort to foster peace and unity. The future of our community depends on our ability to care for each other, to resole conflicts peacefully, and to cherish every life.
We have lost too many young people too quickly to the scourge of violence. This must end. We must work together to create a community where every citizen, young and old, can live without fear, and where disputes are resolved through dialogue and understanding, not violence.
As your representative, I am committed to working tirelessly with law enforcement, community leaders and stakeholders to address the root causes of violence in our society. We will explore every avenue to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our citizens.
To the youth of our community, I want to say: your lives are precious. Your dreams, your aspirations, and your well-being are of utmost importance. I urge you to seek peaceful and constructive paths in life. Your community believes in you and is here to support you.
I call upon each member of our community, please let us lock arms, to be a part of the solution. Let us honor the memory of those we have lost by building a future where peace prevails, and violence finds no refuge.
