BUILDING DEMOLITION BEGINS AT CAYON HIGH SCHOOL

Basseterre: St. Kitts, Friday, March 15, 2024:​ Two wooden buildings at Cayon High School which were deemed to be unsafe by were demolished on Friday March 15, as part of theongoing renovations happening at the school. 

Deputy Principal Mr. Gavin Blake, commented, “Today is a historical day at the Cayon High School where the demolition of both wooden buildings is currently in progress. We [staff, students, and administration] are grateful for the clearance of these buildings as they have been health and safety hazard for quite a while. We are also grateful for the quick response by the Ministry of Education after the plight of our teacher to continue to keep our school safe and ensure that teaching and learning is a top priority at this prestigious learning institution.”

Newly appointed principal of the Cayon High School Ms. Kyla Morris extended gratitude to the Ministry of Education, “I am very proud of this opportunity to be here at the school to be a part of the changes and be a part of the process of improving theschool. I would like to thank the Ministry of Education for starting the process of improving the Cayon High School and we are appreciative of the work which they have started. The Ministry of Education has assured us that they will do everything within their capacity to ensure that Cayon High School has a safe learning environment. Once again, we wouldlike to say thank you and we wish to continue working along with the Ministry of Education.”

The demolition of these buildings falls under the Ministry of Education comprehensive work plan for the Cayon High School.
