CLARENCE FITZROY BRYANT COLLEGE HOSTS 6TH ANNUAL POETRY CIRCLE.

Basseterre, St. Kitts, Friday March 22, 2024: TheClarence Fitzroy Bryant College (CFBC) hosted its 6th Annual Poetry Circle on Thursday, March 21, 2024. The event, held in commemoration of World Poetry Day, drew a diverse crowd to celebrate the power and beauty of poetic expression.

Dorothy Warner, the Secretary-General of the St. Kitts and Nevis National Commission for UNESCO, graciously conveyed the World Poetry Day message on behalf of the Director-General of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay.

“Poetry is a powerfully living art, and it has also, through the centuries and across continents, been the key medium which societies have used to write their history and preserve the memory of culture, as well as to record ancestral knowledge. On this World Poetry Day, UNESCO is celebrating the power to question certainties to remain open to others, to welcome the world in all its diversity – all essential foundations for building peaceful societies. For this reason, UNESCO rallies around poets, especially the younger generation, enabling them to take full advantage of this literary form, and supporting the publication of their work.”

The Poetry Circle featured performances from a myriad of voices, including students, faculty members, and invited guest poets who showcased a rich tapestry of poetic styles and themes, reflecting the depth and diversity of the human experience.

The 6th Annual Poetry Circle at Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College stands as a testament to the enduring power of poetic expression and the profound impact it continues to have on individuals and communities worldwide.
