As I watch the growth of tourism I am quite pleased with the actions of this Labour Government:
1) While Unity closed down the country, myself and the A team opened up the country in less than 24 hours after I was sworn in as Prime Minister.
2) I want to thank the Minister of Tourism Hon. Marsha T. Henderson and her team, as we were determined to meet with Royal Caribbean to mend our relationship and apologize for the bad treatment that they received from the Unity Government during the pandemic. As a result, we were able to get back a number of cruise ships.
This quick action not only saved the industry, but has helped with the rapid economic rebound and St. Kitts and Nevis being number 1 in CARICOM in terms of human development according to the 2023/2024 UNDP report.
We will continue to work to full recovery, but we are still hurt by these two very terrible decisions by Unity.
