AGRICULTURE DEPARTMENT HOSTS ENGAGING & EDUCATIONAL TOUR FOR LOCAL PRESCHOOL
(MOA Basseterre, St. Kitts, 5 June 2024):
The Department of Agriculture located at LaGuerite, St. Kitts opened its doors to the little learners of the Diligent Hands Abike Montessori Academy Preschool on Friday 24th May 2024.
The group of twenty-five including students, parents and staff, were delighted as they were treated to a tour of the Department’s many divisions.
The students learned about the many different types of plants, the method of propagation, animals, feed and fertilizers, the importance of agriculture and knowing where their food comes from. They were also given the opportunity to learn about the various careers in Agriculture related fields.
This initiative also offered a hands-on experience with aims to instill an early appreciation for agriculture and environmental stewardship among young learners, while promoting local food and healthy eating habits.
At the end of the tour, the preschoolers were treated to a refreshing treat of locally grown watermelon from the Marketing Unit.
