Health Sciences Pre-Nursing Programme
OVERVIEW
The Pre-Nursing Programme is designed to provide a learning environment that supports students’ academic growth and development while simultaneously offering a pathway to a seamless transition into the UWI-CFBC Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSN) Programme primarily, and the CFBC Enrolled Nursing Assistant (ENA) Programme.
The Pre-Nursing Programme is aimed at capturing individuals who do not meet the matriculation requirement for either the UWI-CFBC BSN Programme or the CFBC ENA Programme.
The duration of the Programme is a maximum of 2 years.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
To be eligible for entry to the Pre-Nursing Programme candidates must:
1 . Have attended secondary school but did not attempt/attain any subjects in the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examination or at the General Certificate Examination (GCE) Ordinary Level
OR
Have obtained passes in CSEC or General Certificate Examination (GCE) Ordinary Level or approved level in
at least three subjects or more, however, subjects do not meet matriculation requirements.
2. Be at least l6 years old at the time of admission to the programme.
3. Submit to a personal interview and provide two (2) letters of recommendation highlighting the applicant’s
abilities, accomplishments, work ethic, potential for future success and suitability for the Pre-Nursing Programme.
4. Applicants must submit the original and a copy of the following documents: a) Original birth cefiificate or passport or ceftificate of citizenship b) Original CSEC/GCE certificates or results slip if applicable
c) Provide a transcript ofsecondary or tertiary level education.
NOTE: Applicants having more than two (2) CSEC subjects at grade three passes or more than two (2) with a ‘C’ pass in GCE subjects will be required to upgrade the subjects within a two-year period. Only two (2) subjects with a grade III in CSEC or a ‘C’ in GCE Ordinary Level, among the total required for matriculation, are accepted for entry into the BSN Programme. The remaining subjects needed for matriculation must have grades of I or II in CSEC, or A and B in GCE Ordinary Level.
o If an applicant has passed in 3 subject areas, he/she must complete 2 additional subjects within the one-year period, along with the other stipulated prerequisite courses in the Programme.
SPECIALLY ADMITTED STUDENTS, UWI GLOBAL CAMPUS, ST KITTS
1. Students must have passed in English A and Mathematics at the CSEC level or an equivalent to be eligible to register as a Specially Admitted Student.
2. Students can only register for two (2) foundation courses in each semester.
Students are eligible for exemption of up to nine (9) credits toward the UWI-CFBC BSN programme.

CERTIFICATION OF’ COMPLETION
A certification of completion willbe awarded by CFBC upon completion of the Programme.
Graduates who successfully complete the Pre-Nursing Programme are eligible to apply to the UWI-CFBC BSN Programme or any other programme at the College, including the Enrolled Nursing Assistant Programme
