CAYON HIGH SCHOOL REMAINS ON HYBRID TEACHING / LEARNING MODEL

Basseterre: St. Kitts, Monday, September 02, 2024: In his annual back to school address the Minister of Education Dr. Hon. Geoffrey Hanley, on Sunday September 01 relayed that the Cayon High School (CHS) would delay the physical reopeningof the institution. The Hybrid Model of teaching and learning will continue as they await further Mold testing results.

“The Ministry is still not satisfied with the results [previous Mold testing results] and deployed a new strategy to kill the Mold – UV light. This method leverages the power of ultraviolet light and offers a non-toxic way to eliminate Mold spores without leaving behind any chemical residues. After which testing was redone and we are now awaiting the results. The safety of our staff and students is of the highest priority. Therefore, Cayon High School will employ a hybrid model for the new term. This means that some students will receive instruction face-to-face while others will attend classes remotely,” Dr. Hanley expressed.

Though the physical plant remains close, the Cayon High Schoolwill still host its reopening general assembly at the Cayon Moravian Church at 9:00 am. At the end of the assembly students, enrolled in Second to Fourth Form will return home.Students of Form One will make their way to the Cayon PrimarySchool for orientation.

To ensure no child is left behind as the school remains on remote learning, the Ministry of Education resumes the distribution of laptops for students in Form Three. The schedule time for distribution and collection of laptops will start at 2:00 p.m. at Cayon Primary School, Monday September 02.

The Ministry of Education expresses profound gratitude to stakeholders of the Cayon High School for their patience and understanding as they navigate the current challenges.
