MINISTER OF EDUCATION ADDRESSES STAKEHOLDERS IN ANNUAL BACK TO SCHOOL MESSAGE
Basseterre: St. Kitts, Tuesday, September 03, 2023: In an address to start the 2024-2025 academic year, the Minister of Education Hon. Dr. Geoffrey Hanley expressed optimism for a promising and productive school year.
“As we embark on a new academic year, it is with great enthusiasm and optimism that we welcome you back to school. This year promises to be filled with opportunities for growth, learning, and development. Our commitment to providing a nurturing and conducive environment for education remains steadfast, and we are excited to see what the new school year holds for each of you.”
Gratitude was expressed to the Federal Teaching Fraternity as recognition of their hard work, dedication and devotion to the development of the nation’s human resource was brought to the forefront.
“Welcome back to another year of inspiring and shaping young minds. Your dedication and hard work are the foundation of our education system. As educators, you play a vital role in the development of our students, not just academically but also personally and socially. Teachers are our unsung heroes and just as they are expected to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity, we expect that our students, parents, and the wider community will give them the respect they deserve.”
The Minister reminded students of the importance of following the established rules and guidelines of their respective institutions, to refrain from any disruptive behaviours that will deter them from their dreams of academic success; to remain always groomed and being punctual and attentive.
Minister Hanley further stated, “The 2024-2025 academic year will be filled with multiple opportunities for you to showcase your talents, creativity, and academic ability. As educators we want you to “Dream big, work hard, and stay focused knowing that you can make a difference in our Federation and the World.” Your journey of learning continues, and we are here to support you every step of the way. As you return to your classrooms, remember that education is not just about acquiring knowledge but also about developing values, skills, and attitudes that will help you succeed in life.”
“As we begin this new school year, let us all commit to working together to create a positive and productive learning environment. Students, teachers, and parents all have a role to play in the success of our education system. Let us embrace the challenges and opportunities ahead with enthusiasm and determination,” concluded Hon. Dr. Geoffrey Hanley
