MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE TO HOST INFORMATIVE CONSULTATIONS ON INSURANCE FOR FARMERS THIS MONTH

(MOA Basseterre, St. Kitts, 04 October 2024):

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Marine Resources in St. Kitts is pleased to announce a series of important consultations this month, designed specifically for the island’s crop and livestock farmers. These sessions will take place in the Large Conference Room of the Department of Agriculture, offering a vital opportunity for farmers to enhance their understanding of agricultural insurance.

The consultations are scheduled as follows:

Livestock Farmers: Tuesday, 29th October

Crops Farmers: Wednesday, 30th October

These sessions are tailored to address the unique challenges faced by farmers in the federation, particularly in light of the unpredictable nature of agricultural production.

Participants will gain valuable insights into various agricultural insurance options available to them, which can provide crucial financial protection against potential losses due to adverse weather conditions, pests, diseases, and other unforeseen circumstances.

The Ministry encourages all farmers to attend these informative sessions, as understanding agricultural insurance can be a vital step in safeguarding their livelihoods and ensuring the sustainability of their farming operations.

The two-day consultation will be held in the Agri Large Conference Room and is set to begin 5:00 p.m. daily.

For further information, interested persons are asked to contact the Ministry at 869-467-1016.
