SFUFC & RSCNPF LAUNCH NU GENERATION FOOTBALL PROGRAMME
The Security Forces United Football Club (SFUFC), in collaboration with the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force’s National Intervention Team (NIT), is proud to announce the launch of a transformative grassroots football initiative in St. Kitts and Nevis, titled “Discovering Talent, Igniting Dreams, Building Futures.” The main launch event took place on October 5th, 2024, at the NCI Grounds in Needsmust, St. Kitts. Additionally, a separate launch was held this past Wednesday to accommodate children attending the Seventh Day Adventist Primary School, ensuring that all interested youth can participate.
Designed for children aged four to twelve, the programme will take place every Saturday morning from 9AM to 12:30PM at the NCI Grounds. Under the guidance of qualified youth coaches, participants will engage in technical football sessions that focus on skill development. Furthermore, members of the RSCNPF National Intervention Team, alongside other professionals, will offer invaluable life skills workshops. This initiative aims to create a safe and nurturing environment where children can not only learn the fundamentals of football but also experience personal growth and development.
Inspector John Bergan, the programme’s coordinator, officially declared the programme open on behalf of Commissioner James Sutton. The launch event was graced by the presence of Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew, who took the time to engage with parents, coaches, and supporters. The children were thrilled to meet him, enthusiastically sharing football banter and lively conversations. The Prime Minister expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the positive social impact generated by both the National Intervention Team and the SFUFC, emphasising their crucial role in fostering the holistic development of youth in the community. He encouraged the young athletes to collaborate, treat each other with respect, and to practice patience, mindfulness, and kindness. Wishing the programme every success, he underscored the importance of such initiatives in shaping bright futures for the youth of St. Kitts and Nevis.
