Public Relations Officer
Job Summary
The Medicinal Cannabis Authority is committed to transparency, community engagement, and fostering positive relationships with stakeholders. As we develop in this dynamic field, we are seeking a Public Relations Officer to join our team.
The Public Relations Officer will be responsible for developing and implementing effective communication strategies to promote the authority’s mission, enhance its public image, and engage with diverse stakeholders. This role requires a creative thinker with a deep understanding of the cannabis industry and the regulatory landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
• Communication Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive public relations strategy to promote the Authority’s initiatives, policies, and programs.
• Media Relations: Build and maintain relationships with local, regional, and national media outlets. Prepare press releases, media kits, and respond to media inquiries.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Coordinate and engage with community groups, industry stakeholders, and government officials to foster positive relationships and address concerns.
• Content Creation: Create and edit content for various platforms, including social media, newsletters, websites, and promotional materials to inform and engage the public.
• Event Coordination: Plan and manage public events, workshops, and informational sessions to educate the community and promote transparency.
• Crisis Management: Develop and implement crisis communication plans to address any public relations issues or emergencies that may arise.
• Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor media coverage, public sentiment, and community feedback to provide insights and recommendations to leadership.
• Compliance and Policy Understanding: Stay updated on cannabis regulations, policies, and trends to ensure all communications are accurate and compliant.
Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field is preferred but not required
– Minimum of 3 years of experience in public relations, communications, or a similar role, preferably within a regulatory environment.
– Strong understanding of the cannabis industry and its regulatory landscape.
Key Personal Attributes
– Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
– Experience with social media platforms and digital communication strategies.
– Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
Salary will be based on qualifications of the successful candidate. The annual salary can range from K33 to K38.

Administrative Officer
The Administrative Officer will play a vital role in supporting the operational and strategic functions of the Medicinal Cannabis Authority. This position is responsible for overseeing administrative processes, managing internal and external communications, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, exceptional organizational abilities, and a comprehensive understanding of the cannabis industry.
Key Responsibilities:
• Administrative Leadership: Oversee daily administrative operations, ensuring efficient workflows and effective support to all departments within the Authority.
• Policy Development: Assist in the formulation and implementation of policies and procedures that promote regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and organizational effectiveness.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to nationalcannabis regulations. Prepare and maintain necessary documentation and reports for audits and inspections.
• Project Management: Lead and coordinate special projects related to the Authority’s goals, including research initiatives, community outreach programs, and stakeholder engagement.
• Licensing Application Management: Receive and manage application information for onward processing and determination
• Data Management: Oversee the collection, analysis, and reporting of data related to cannabis operations, ensuring accurate and timely information is available for decision-making.
• Team Support and Development: Mentor and support administrative staff, fostering a collaborative work environment. Identify training needs and facilitate professional development opportunities.
• Budget Oversight: Assist in the development and management of the Authority’s budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and adherence to financial policies.
Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Management, Accounting or a related field
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in administrative management, preferably in a regulatory or governmental environment, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Knowledge of Cannabis Industry: Understanding of cannabis laws, regulations, and industry best practices is highly desirable.

o Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and administrative management software.
