TREVAL HODGE SENTENCED FOR IMPORTATION OF CANNABIS
Treval Hodge of Haynes-Smith Village, St. Kitts, and a resident of Bronx, New York, has been sentenced for multiple offenses related to the importation and possession of controlled substances.
On December 24th, 2024, Mr Hodge was jointly charged by the Comptroller of Customs and the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) for the following offences, committed between December 21st and 23rd, 2024:
(i) Importation of a Controlled Drug, specifically Cannabis;
(ii) Possession of a Controlled Drug, specifically Cannabis, with Intent to Supply;
(iii) Submitting a False Customs Declaration;
(iv) Importing a Quantity of Goods, specifically Cannabis Sativa, packed in a manner Intended to Deceive a Customs Officer.
Having pleaded guilty to the charges, Mr Hodge’s sentence is as follows:
– for Importing a Quantity of Goods in a manner to deceive a Customs Officer, he was convicted and fined one-thousand dollars ($1000 ECD), payable within three (3) months, with a default penalty of one (1) month imprisonment;
– for Submitting a False Declaration to a Customs officer, he was fined one-thousand dollars ($1000 ECD), payable within three (3) months, with a default penalty of one (1)month in prison
;- for the Possession of a Controlled Drug with Intent to Supply: he was fined three- thousand dollars ($3000 ECD), payable within six (6) months, with a default penalty of two (2) months in prison;
-for the Importation of a Controlled Drug, he was fined three-thousand dollars ($3,000 ECD), payable within six (6) months, with a default penalty of two (2) months in prison.
Mr Hodge was sentenced on February 3rd, 2025, by Magistrate Her Honour Mrs. Rhonda Nisbett-Browne at the District “A” Magistrate Court in Basseterre, St. Kitts.
The RSCNPF will continue to prioritise the enforcement of laws pertaining to drug- related offences. The public is encouraged to report any suspicious activities related to drug importation and trafficking.
