MINISTRY OF EDUCATION HOSTS DRAMA WORKSHOP IN  COLLABORATION WITH TRING PARK SCHOOL FOR PERFORMING ARTS 

Basseterre, St. Kitts, Friday, February 14, 2025: The Ministry of Education is hosting a drama workshop facilitated by Mr. Edward Applewhite, Director of the Acting Course and Head of Drama of the Tring Park School for Performing Arts, Hertfordshire England. 

The collaboration between the Ministry of Education and the drama club was made possible through the efforts of Mr. Lionel Wallace, the Deputy Lieutenant, and former High Sheriff ofHertfordshire. Mr. Wallace played a key role in fostering this partnership, recognizing the benefits that such an exchange would bring to the local education and arts sectors.

Mr. Lionel Wallace explained,

“This cultural collaboration has been formed as the first project between Tring Park School for Performing Arts coming to work with the Ministry of Education here in St. Kitts and Nevis. Drama is a tremendous skill for building competence amongyoung people who are really keen on that, and we are delighted to see this vision come to pass with respect to what’s happening now in St. Kitts.”

Edward Applewhite and his team have designed an engaging curriculum for the workshop, covering various aspects of drama, including improvisation, stage presence, and script interpretation. Through interactive sessions, participants will gain hands-on experience and valuable insights into the world of performing arts.

Mr. Applewhite shared,

“The benefit of more drama in school is the fact that it instils a degree of self-confidence and teamwork.”

He further expressed his appreciation for the high level of enjoyment he witnessed among participants.

The Ministry of Education has welcomed this collaboration as a significant step toward enriching arts education in the federation. The drama workshop is expected to leave a lasting impact, inspiring local students to explore their creative potential while strengthening international educational ties.
