SKNFA HOSTS FIRST OF MANY CLUB DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS

Over the weekend, the St. Kitts and Nevis Football Association (SKNFA) launched the first of several club development workshops aimed at enhancing its member clubs. The inaugural session took place on Saturday, February 15, at Football House. Deputy General Secretary of the SKNFA, Jamir Claxton, shared the focus of the workshop, which centered on club licensing and the SKNFA member assistance grant.
“We’re going to be doing a number of workshops for clubs as part of the club development initiative. This one today, we are focusing on the club licensing program and also the member’s assistance program. So we are going through the club licensing and trying to help the clubs to become better at doing what is necessary to make sure they pass club licensing, because it is a requirement for the SKNFA,” he said. “Also, if they’re going to participate in regional or international competition, they must meet club licensing regulations.”

The member assistance grants, Mr. Claxton explained, are part of an annual process that allows each SKNFA member club to access funding once they meet the necessary requirements. He also highlighted that clubs have been making significant progress in the club licensing process, an essential component required by Concacaf. “As far as the member assistance program goes, it is a grant that is provided by the St. Kitts and Nevis Football Association to its members, and there are rules and regulations and guidelines that govern how the grant is first disseminated and how it should be used. So we are carefully going through the process so the clubs have a full and transparent understanding of how it should be done. The member assistance grants, Mr. Claxton explained, are part of an annual process that allows each SKNFA member club to access funding once they meet the necessary requirements,” he said.
All SKNFA members participated in Saturday’s workshop. Looking ahead, Mr. Claxton revealed that throughout the year, the SKNFA will continue hosting additional workshops, all aimed at further improving the performance and operations of its member clubs. This workshop forms part of the SKNFA’s ongoing commitment to enhancing its member clubs, fostering a more professional and efficient football environment in St. Kitts and Nevis.
