SADDLERS SECONDARY SCHOOL HOSTS ANNUAL 5THFORM SYMPOSIUM

Basseterre: St. Kitts, Friday, March 07, 2025: The recent Saddlers Secondary School 5th Form Symposium (March 05) held at the Solid Waste Management Conference Room, convened under the theme Rising Strong: Building Confidence, Values and a Path to Success.

Mrs. Everlene Huggins – Forbes, Head of the Guidance and Counselling Department at the institution elucidated that the focus of the symposium is based on the results of a needs assessment,

“This year’s event focuses on the personal-social level because we feel that our students will greatly benefit from the theme and topics we have selected. Our theme for this year is RisingStrong: Building Confidence, Values and a Path to Success and from this theme we have three topics with three very able and insightful presenters. We have Procrastination to Progress by Mr. Dexter Fahie, Making Good Choices, a decision-making topic by Mr. Rodell Wattley, and Building Confidence Step by Step by Ms. Alicia Collins. We feel that all these topics selected are what we consider transferrable skills.”

Mr. Delvin Lucas, Form 5 Block Head expressed,

“At the end of the symposium, my hope as the Year Head is for the students to demonstrate a change of heart and their holistic development. Our hope at the school is that our students who are engaged in these sessions can learn something new and come about with a change. Normally, persons say learning is a change in behavior, so if you engage students and teach them certain attributes and values, they are then able to apply them in their lives.”

The one-day event was considered a success by the students.
