PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN ST. KITTS AND NEVIS
Basseterre, St. Kitts, Friday, February 07, 2025: Primary school students across St. Kitts and Nevis will soon have access to a new collection of children’s books, thanks to a generous donation from Wales (UK) – based author and curriculum designer, Jessica Dunrod.
During a recent visit to St. Kitts and Nevis, Ms. Dunrod met with Chief Education Officer, Mr. Francil Morris, to officially hand over copies of her two books, which will be distributed to both public and private primary schools. The donation is part of her ongoing commitment to supporting literacy and education within the diaspora.
Ms. Dunrod, whose father hails from Cayon, St. Kitts previously gifted books to Cayon Primary School but pledged to the Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Terrence Drew during the recent Diaspora Conference to expand the initiative to all primary schools on the island. Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Mrs. Lisa Pistana, expressed profound gratitude for the donation, stating, “Thank you for your philanthropic gesture. We greatly appreciate this contribution of children’s books to our schools, and I am certain that our students will make good use of them.”
In addition to the books, schools in St. Kitts and Nevis canaccess sign language reading of her book, “Your Hair is Your Crown.”

We are grateful for the access to your resources, which will support inclusive learning in our schools,” he said.
The Ministry of Education looks forward to further collaborations that enhance reading and learning experiences for students across the federation.
