NEWCASTLE & HALFWAY TREE SHOOTINGS UNDER INVESTIGATION

The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) is investigating two separate shooting incidents that occurred on September 18th, 2025, resulting in two men being treated for gunshot injuries.

Between 10 AM and 10:30 AM, the Violent Crime Unit of the RSCNPF received information about a shooting at Halfway Tree, St. Kitts. Preliminary investigations revealed that Keszron Duporte of Halfway Tree was travelling towards Basseterre when a black jeep pulled alongside his vehicle, and the driver allegedly discharged several rounds at him. Mr. Duporte was struck in his right forearm. He was later treated and discharged from Joseph N. France General Hospital.

On Nevis, officers responded to a report of gunshots heard in the Newcastle area between 8 AM and 8:30 AM. Preliminary investigations determined that Leon “Copper” Didder of Nisbett Settlement, Newcastle, was accosted by two masked and armed males while approaching his vehicle. The suspects fired several shots, and Mr. Didder sustained injuries to his left upper arm and forearm. He managed to escape and was soon after transported to Alexandra Hospital by private vehicle, where he was treated and discharged.

The Crime Scene Unit of the RSCNPF processed both scenes and collected some items of
evidential value. Both matters remain under active investigation, and updates will be provided as they develop. The RSCNPF urges anyone with information regarding either
incident to come forward and contact the nearest Police station or report anonymously via the Crime Stoppers’ hotline, 707.
