ELI BURTON CONVICTED FOR CANNABIS-RELATED OFFENCES


Eli Burton of Dominica, has been convicted and fined for the offences of Importation of a Controlled Drug, and Possession of a Controlled Drug (Cannabis) with Intent to Supply. The offences were committed on August 25th, 2025, at the Deep-Water Port at Bird Rock, Basseterre, St. Kitts.

Mr. Burton pleaded guilty to the offences and was fined five thousand dollars (EC $5,000) on each count. Both amounts were payable forthwith; in default, he will serve twelve (12) months imprisonment. Mr. Burton also appeared for two (2) additional matters with the St. Kitts Customs and Excise Department regarding Importation of Goods (Cannabis) Packed to Deceive a Customs Officer. He was convicted and cautioned for both offences.

Mr. Burton’s sentences were handed down by Her Honour Magistrate Yasmine Clarke at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on October 6th, 2025
