SUSPECTED DIEPPE BAY DROWNING UNDER POLICE INVESTIGATION

The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) is investigating a suspected drowning reported as having occurred on December 17th, 2025, between 6:30 PMand7:30 PM, in Dieppe Bay, St. Kitts.

Responding to the scene, Police officers observed forty (40)-year-old Travis Smithen of Rawlins Project, St. Paul’s, St. Kitts, lying motionless on the shoreline. Preliminary investigations indicate that Mr Smithen had been diving with friends when he became unresponsive in the water. He was brought ashore but was regrettably pronounced dead at the scene.

The Crime Scene Unit processed the scene, and a post-mortem examination has been ordered to ascertain the cause of death. Investigations into the incident are ongoing, and updates will be provided as they become available.

The RSCNPF expresses sincere condolences to all who have been impacted by Mr Smithen’s untimely passing.
