UNESCO DELEGATION PAYS COURTESY CALL ON MINISTER OF EDUCATION FOLLOWING REGIONAL WORKSHOP
Basseterre, St. Kitts, Friday, May 15, 2026: Following SIM Caribbean workshops held on
Wednesday, 13, and Thursday, 14 May, hosted in St. Kitts and Nevis, the delegation from
UNESCO paid a courtesy call on Hon. Dr. Geoffrey Hanley, Minister of Education.
The delegation, which was in the Federation for the SIM Caribbean Media and Information
Literacy workshops, included Mr. Eric Falt, Regional Director, UNESCO Regional Office for
the Caribbean, and Mr. Paul Hector, Advisor for Communications and Information, UNESCO
Regional Office for the Caribbean.
Present for the meeting were H.E. Nerys Dockery, Secretary General of the St. Kitts and Nevis
National Commission for UNESCO, Mrs. Lisa-Romayne Pistana, Permanent Secretary in the
Ministry of Education, along with other senior education officials.
The courtesy call provided an opportunity for discussions on matters relating to education and
continued collaboration between UNESCO and St. Kitts and Nevis.
Following the meeting, the delegation held a committee session in which several important
UNESCO-related matters were discussed as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen partnerships
and regional cooperation in the education sector.
