MINISTY OF EDUCATION ADDRESSES ALLEGED CRIMINAL THREAT TO LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL

Basseterre: St. Kitts, Friday, February 14, 2025. The Ministry of Education (MOE) was made aware of an alleged planned criminal activity at the Charles E. Mills Secondary School (CEMSS).

The police’s response was swift. Officers were deployed to the school to secure the premises and conduct a thorough search of all learning spaces and the surrounding grounds, thereby ensuring the safety of all students and staff. As a precautionary measure, CEMSS was closed to further facilitate the police’s investigation.

The Ministry remains committed to ensuring that all educational facilities are safe spaces and will continue to work closely with law enforcement.  All parents and guardians should note that CEMSS will return to face-to-face instruction on Monday, 17 February 2025.

The Ministry will continue to support the efforts of the police and encourages the general public to cooperate fully as they seek to resolve this matter.
