TEAM ST. KITTS DEPARTS FOR 53rd LIDC IN ST. MAARTEN

Basseterre, St. Kitts, 6th March 2025 (CFBC): The St. Kitts Debating Team has departed the Federation to compete in the 53rd Leeward Islands Debating Competition (LIDC), scheduled to be held in St. Maarten from 6th to 8th March 2025.

The Team comprises of Toni Allen, Endira Reeknauth, Makalia Tucker, Kayla Penny, Tazia Williams and Jaylon Rouse, all members of the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College (CFBC) Literary and Debating Society..

This year’s competition will see five territories—St. Kitts, Anguilla, Antigua, Nevis, and host St. Maarten—compete on the regional stage.

In the first debate on Thursday, 6th March, Anguilla will go up against Antigua with the moot “Permissive parenting has negatively impacted Gen Z.”

On Friday, 7th March, there will be two debates. In the second debate, St. Kitts will challenge St. Maarten with the moot “Artificial intelligence does more harm than good.” In the third debate, Nevis, the reigning champions, will confront the winner of the first debate with the moot “Parental leave should be equal for both mothers and fathers.”

On Saturday, 8th March, in the finals, the winner of the second debate will face the winner of the third debate with the moot “Without adequate soft skills training, Caribbean youth will not achieve their fullest potential.”

Team St. Kitts is determined to win this year’s competition after months of rigorous training and preparation. Their dedication and hard work have set high expectations for their performance.
