It is the hope of the Government that this special day of prayer will serve to inspire and elevate in all of us faith, hope and love in and for God.
Pastor Hazel commenced the prayer session with a scripture reading from 2 Chronicles 7:14, which reads: “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
While invoking God’s blessing, Pastor Hazel said, “Today, on this National Day of Prayer, we pray for our Prime Minister and his Cabinet; we pray that as they continue to lead this Federation they will trust in you with all their hearts and they will not depend on their own understanding but they will seek Your will in all they do.”
The formal meeting of the Cabinet was chaired by Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris.
Meanwhile, in a national address to encourage citizens and residents to participate in today’s National Day of Prayer, Prime Minister Harris reminded us all that St. Kitts and Nevis remains a nation under God.
“As a proud, patriotic and God-fearing people, we ought to celebrate our country’s many accomplishments, recognizing how far we have come along a difficult journey towards Independence and nationhood, while acknowledging that we could not have survived had it not been for our loving Father’s tender mercy and grace. My Team Unity administration therefore gives God all the glory and praise for His wonderful salvation,” Dr. Harris said.
The prime minister further noted that his Team Unity Government recognizes the power of prayer and the doors it can open.
Prime Minister Harris stated, “Honoured and humbled by God’s abiding grace, my administration seeks to inculcate in our nation a national and personal commitment to furthering God’s will, which is that we should love Him with all our heart, soul and mind, and love each other as much as we love ourselves and as He has loved us.”
