“We just want to make a small token of contribution to Mrs. Henry for her many years of service to the Statistics Department. We certainly appreciate the time that you spent with us. I know that you still come and visit us now and again to see how we are doing or even to request data to refute things that you heard outside,” said Director of the Department of Statistics, Carlton Phipps. “So thank you very much. Thank you for your service and we also want to say congratulations on receiving the Companion Star of Merit for your service to the public and the community.”
Mrs. Henry warmly welcomed the donation and showed her appreciation to staff members of the department.
“I want to thank everyone for being so kind and for remembering me. I spent all my years there and I am looking forward for great things from the Statistics Department,” she said. “I share with you my honour because it is because I put in all those years there that somebody paid attention and somebody valued the work that I did and that you continue to do. So together we share the honour.”
Senior Director of the Department of Statistics in the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Gaile Gray-Phillip, thanked Mrs. Henry for her contribution to the department and encouraged her to continue promoting the department and motivating the staff.
Mrs. Henry worked for 19 years in the Department of Statistics in St. Kitts from 1985 to 2004, after serving as a teacher at the Basseterre High School.
This initiative formed part of a week-long celebration for the observance of Caribbean Statistics Day that was celebrated on October 15 under the theme “Building Resilience of the Caribbean Community”.
