CARNIVAL IN ST. KITTS-NEVIS HAS TRANSFORMED OVER THE YEARS, SAYS MINISTER HAMILTON
Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 26, 2018 (SKNIS): Carnival in St. Kitts and Nevis has gone through a series of transformations that have broadened the appeal and enhanced the product, said the Honourable Eugene Hamilton, during the opening of the St. Kitts and Nevis National Carnival (Sugar Mas 47), on Friday, November 23, 2018.
Minister Hamilton, who was at the time deputizing for the Honourable Shawn Richards, Minister of Culture, spoke highly of the National Carnival Committee, chaired by Noah Mills. He noted that the longstanding contribution Carnival has made to St. Kitts and Nevis should be applauded, while making special mention of the hardworking, enthusiastic men and women who year after year work to make the celebrations bigger and better.“Notwithstanding the many years of transformation that decades would have lent to Carnival, under Minister Richards’ vision, the National Carnival Committee continues to introduce many innovations all aimed at further augmenting the overall quality of the carnival product,” said Minister Hamilton. “For example: This year, the Carnival calendar includes a Sugar Mas Olympics – that is innovation!”
The calendar also features a barbecue competition, and the grand opening of the National Carnival Museum – “we continue to see innovation,” he added.
The National Carnival Museum, which is set to open on Monday, December 03, “will allow visitors and nationals alike to reminisce by looking and listening to memories of Carnival of yesteryear.”
