Cabinet met on March 11 and entertained a delegation from LIAT. LIAT is seeking a capital injection to fund the airline over the coming months. The four shareholder governments, namely, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Dominica wished the Federation to consider burden sharing as a means of retaining connectivity within the islands and staving off insolvency. After the presentation, Cabinet set up a committee shared by the Financial Secretary and members drawn from the Ministry of Tourism, St. Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority (SCASPA) and the Office of the Prime Minister. The committee was given the mandate to examine the scheduling, financials and other models of MRGs (Minimum Return Guarantees) and advise the Cabinet on the way forward.
