That’s according to Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris, who indicated that during the staging of the 4th annual Caribbean Investment Summit held in St. Kitts and Nevis from June 20-21, “one of the things which appeared to have amazed our visitors was the high quality of infrastructure.”
There are presently a number of major capital projects being undertaken in the country including the comprehensive Island Main Road Rehabilitation Project, the Old Road Bay Rehabilitation Project, the construction of the second cruise pier at Port Zante, construction of the Wellington Road Housing Development, the RLB International Airport’s rehabilitation project which includes the resurfacing of Taxiway ‘A’, and a phased extension to include the resurfacing and reinforcement of the Apron.
“So, we are doing the most significant investment in public infrastructure ever witnessed in a very long time. It is no wonder then that visitors are able to notice the improvements,” Dr. Harris commented.
The two–day Caribbean Investment Summit drew participation from some 400 attendees comprising government officials, heads of Citizenship by Investment (CBI) Units, developers, as well as international marketing agents and service providers from around the world.
After seeing firsthand the level of developments taking place here in St. Kitts and Nevis, Prime Minister Harris said these developers and marketing agents are now better positioned to “speak about what is happening in St. Kitts and Nevis in a more intimate and positive way and they can sell our country as one that is making progress, one that has a lot to offer and one which, in their view, is performing way superior to what they would have anticipated from a small country.”
On Monday June 24, the Government broke ground for the construction of $2.4 million Explorers Campsite Building in Phillip’s Village. Construction of that facility will be carried out by a resident of Phillip’s Village, Mr. Myron Percival of M & D Construction Services.
