LEADING FROM THE FRONT AND BY EXAMPLE
On Saturday May 22, 2021, our Land of Beauty was alerted by the Leader of Team Unity, the Political Leader of the Peoples Labour Party (PLP) and Prime Minister of the Federation of St. Christopher (St. Kitts) and Nevis, Dr. Hon. Timothy S. Harris, that we have new cases of COVID-19 in our Federation. This was unwanted news and it shows that we are not out of the woods as yet and are still in a war against this novel pandemic. This also shows that our Leader’s initial position of strict and stringent measures to curb our people’s natural social behaviours was more than justified. Though there has been a slight increase in the number of cases, we have still been blessed with no COVID-19 related deaths.
The leadership of the PLP has now gone beyond its social responsibility of educating our people of the need for continued social distancing, hand sanitizing, the wearing of masks and to reduce and risk ones movement unless necessary. We are now, “Leading from the Front and By Our Example”. This is self-evident as our Political Leader, Deputy Political Leader, Executive members and supporters have already taken their two (2) required doses of the vaccine. And now, in light of the new COVID-19 protocols announced, we have postponed our highly anticipated and Big Annual PLP’s Whit Monday Family Event at Black Rocks and our monthly Prime Minister’s Health Walk which was scheduled for this Saturday May 29, 2021.
PLP continues not to take COVID-19 for granted. Our Leader continues to encourage everyone to get vaccinated by taking their “Jab” now, especially since the vaccine is here in abundance and is free for all with no distinction of age or socio-economic status, unlike in other developed countries of the world. This can still be done at any health centre in St. Kitts and in Nevis which are now being opened for extended periods by our Deputy Political Leader and Minister of Health, the Hon. Akilah Byron-Nisbett. So far, 24, 297 doses have been administered with 6, 561 nationals, citizens and residents being fully vaccinated.
The Prime Minister, Leader of Team Unity and Political Leader of the PLP, Dr. Hon. Timothy S. Harris, continue to ask the people of the Federation of St. Christopher and Nevis, not to ask what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country, your family and for YOU!!!
He continues to give thanks to Almighty God for giving him the wisdom and the continued opportunity to lead Team Unity into the future during these difficult and novel times, for the benefit of all the good people of St. Kitts and Nevis.
