Good morning! We would like to extend sincerest thanks for the report this morning on this stranded green sea turtle. It was a juvenile in excellent body condition and cause of death was not obvious on initial inspection. We will update everyone as we have more information.
We appear to be seeing a trend here in St. Kitts with the recent increase in strandings and are asking the public to please keep an eye out for any additional strandings for us. If they strand alive we will treat and release. If dead, a necropsy will be performed.
Everyone’s assistance is greatly appreciated as those of you out on the beaches and in the water are our frontlines for these type incidents. Just call us to report as someone will be available to respond from the Sea Turtle Hotline at 764-6664 at any time.
