TIM AND THE SPACE CADETS MUSICAL GROUP ENTERTAINS STUDENTS WITH MUSICAL PERFORMANCE

Basseterre: St. Kitts, Thursday, December 09, 2021: Students across St. Kitts were thoroughly entertained and exposed to a variety of musical genre over a two day period by Tim and the Space Cadets Musical group. The experience started on Tuesday, December 07 in the Basseterre School Zone and ended on Wednesday, December 08, 2021, in the West School Zone.

Tim Kubart and the Space Cadets musical group entertained and expanded the students’ musical experiences, with their eclectic performances and explained some musical terms through interaction and actions.

Leader of the Grammy Award Winning Musical Group, Tim Kubart, noted that they visited St. Kitts as guests to the US Embassy.

“We are here celebrating music, art, education and entrepreneurship. This is a Cultural Exchange Programme through the US Arts Envoy, part of the US Embassy in Bridgetown, Barbados,” he said.

The students expressed their delight.

Andreus Tuckett, of the Dean-Glasford Primary school, expressed his satisfaction with the performance.

“I think this concert was very vibrant. Everybody was engaged and I loved it and everybody else did too,” he said

Devarie Boyles from the St. Paul’s Primary School exclaimed, “I really enjoyed the lessons especially tap dancing which was my favourite. It was very exciting! I also enjoyed the drumming lessons, the voice lessons and even the guitar lessons as I never learned to play any of them [musical instruments].”

Shakenzia Henry of the Bronte Welsh Primary explained that she hopes that Tim and the Space Cadets Musical Group would continue to share their talent.

“I really loved it! I never knew how to play the drums, piano and tap dancing, but today I learnt about them. It was also exciting, full of excitement and I really loved it. And I hope they [musical group] could go everywhere else to do things because they are the best teachers. I loved it,” she exclaimed.

Mr. Kubart, elucidated that he hoped at the end of the programme, students become inspired and motivated to seek a career in music,

“I find the thing I love to do by a school assembly by someone coming and singing and making music. So, we hope that we show up and there is a kid out there who said, ‘oh that’s something I want to do’ and knowing that they can build a career doing it as well. Or, just someone who sees people doing what they really want to do and find it within them to be able to achieve that as well,” he said.
