FULL SCHOOL RE-OPENING IN ST KITTS AND NEVIS ON INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR EDUCATION

Basseterre: St. Kitts, Monday, January 24, 2022: Primary and secondary schools in St Kitts and Nevis opened their gates fullyfor a return to Face-to Face instruction today Monday January 24,2022.

This; two weeks after the original return had been scheduled. The delay was as a result of an upsurge in the spread of the covid 19 virus in the Federation. Ministry officials promised then that in spite of the delay, students would return to school byMonday January 24.

Over the two-week period while many students were engaged in revision through online learning, the Ministry “beefed up” its efforts to ensure that schools were prepared to adhere to the protocol requirements. At the same time the ministry called on parents to seek to get students in the age group 12-17 vaccinated in order to help increase their level of safety.

Ministry officials were present at schools today to deliver moral support to students and educators alike.

Students of fifth form returned to school on Monday January 10 as originally scheduled to ensure that they are prepared for the upcoming CXC examinations starting in May this year.

It turns out the new start day coincides with the observance of International Education Day: A fact which the ministry says is symbolic of its commitment to the education of the students of St. Kitts and Nevis in spite of unprecedented challenges.
