New Serbian Ambassador Presents Credentials to Saint Kitts and Nevis

Saint Kitts and Nevis welcomed a recent visit of newly accredited Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, His Excellency Mr. Marko Djuric. The main objectives of the 19th – 23rd February 2022 visit were to present Letters of Credence to Governor-General His Excellency Sir S.W. Tapley Seaton and pay courtesy calls on Prime Minister, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Aviation, the Honourable Mark Brantley.

Accompanied by 2nd Secretary Mr. Veljko Piljak at a brief ceremony at Government House, Ambassador Djuric brought greetings and best wishes from the Government and people of Serbia. Marko Djuric is the first Serbian Ambassador to be accredited to Saint Kitts and Nevis. He expressed humility and pride in being the first to serve at this level as a bridge of cooperation between Saint Kitts and Nevis and the Republic of Serbia.


On Tuesday, 22nd February Ambassador Djuric made a courtesy call on Foreign Affairs Minister Brantley, and on 23rd February called on Prime Minister Harris. Both courtesy calls saw Ambassador Djuric expressing gratitude to Saint Kitts and Nevis for accepting his accreditation. The new Ambassador to SKN gave an overview of economic, social and technological advancements in his country, as he pledged to be visible, active and fully cooperative with SKN’s representatives to ensure a vibrant and fruitful relationship remains intact.


Among matters discussed while in the Federation were increasing scholarship opportunities under the “World in Serbia” Programme, installation of an Honorary Consul of Serbia in Saint Kitts and Nevis, providing technical assistance to SKN’s Security Forces, and Finalizing outstanding Memoranda of Understanding.


Saint Kitts and Nevis established diplomatic relations with the Republic of Serbia in 2018 and there is currently. There is a reciprocal visa waiver agreement between both countries.
