*FOOD SECURITY*

The global pandemic and the virtual shut-down of the world economy has brought into focus the need for small nations, like St Kitts and Nevis, to invest more in food security:

+ To enhance our ability to feed ourselves

+ To provide greater income opportunities for farmers

+ To reduce spending on imports; saving foreign reserves

If this pandemic taught us anything, it’s that there may come a time when nations close their borders for longer periods of time and suspend cargo shipments to ensure that they are able to feed themselves first and continue supporting their local economy.

Supporting Farmers and Fisherfolk is one of the major planks of the PAM Agenda.
