INDEPENDENCE COMMITTEE CONVENES MEETING TO PLAN ACTIVITIES FOR 39TH ANNIVERSARY OF INDEPENDENCE

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, August 26, 2022 (SKNIS) –The Committee tasked with planning the activities for the 39th Anniversary of Independence of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis convened its first meeting today (August 26) at the Sands Complex. Permanent Secretary Sharon Rattan is the chairperson of the Committee.

In attendance at the meeting were government officials including permanent secretaries, representatives from the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force and the St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force, the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Office of the Prime Minister and the Office of the Premier. Private sector representatives were also present. 

Some of the main activities on the Independence calendar include the Prime Minister’s Lecture Series, the National Heroes Day Observance Ceremony, the Independence State Church Service, and the Independence Day Military Parade.

The public will be informed of the full Calendar of Activities when it is finalized.
