The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Marine Resources and Cooperatives donated several boxes of gardening tools to the Central School Farm, during a brief handing over ceremony on Wednesday October 19, as part of World Food Day celebrations this week.
The Honourable Samal Duggins, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Marine Resources and Cooperatives handed over the items to the Central School Farm Manager, Lindbergh Belle who expressed profound gratitude to the Ministry.
Lester Richards, Education Officer with responsibility for the primary school gardens said this is a brilliant initiative that will help the students become more involved in agriculture and better equip them to complete the necessary educational requirements.
Members of the World Food Day— Week of Activities Committee were also present at the ceremony.
The Central School Farm will now distribute the supplies to students at the various primary schools most in need of the tools.
The ceremony was chaired by Assistant Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Kyle Flanders who holds responsibility for the Education initiative.
