PROTOCOLS AND PROCEDURES REQUIRED FOR THE IMPORTATION OR EXPORTATION OF PLANT MATERIALS FROM, AND TO ST. KITTS.

(MOA, St Kitts, 16th February 2024 ):

The Plant Quarantine Unit at the Department of Agriculture wishes to inform the general public of the protocols and procedures required for the importation or exportation of plant materials from, and to St. Kitts.

All are asked to take note of the list of suppliers that have been approved or denied by the unit. Plant material ordered from sites not approved by the unit might experience some delays as proper research has to be done to determine whether or not we can allow plant material from the particular supplier into St. Kitts.

Any person wishing to import plant material into St. Kitts is required to get an import permit from the Plant Quarantine Unit at the Department of Agriculture. Persons are required to fill out an application form and pay EC $5.00 for the application process.

The Plant Quarantine Unit will either approve or deny the request based on the information provided by the applicant. below is a list of the seed suppliers already approved by the Plant Quarantine unit.

Persons wishing to export plant material from St. Kitts are required to get a Phytosanitary certificate from the Plant Quarantine Unit.  Whether traveling with or sending plant material, persons are required to take the Plant material to the Department of Agriculture to be inspected by a Plant Quarantine officer. Once inspected and approved by an officer a Phytosanitary certificate will be issued at a cost of EC $5.

These protocols and procedures are in accordance with the ISPM international standards.  .
