FORMER BASSETERRE HIGH SCHOOL (BHS) ALSO SITS ON BASSETERRE VALLEY AQUIFER
Basseterre, St. Kitts, December 12, 2018 (SKNIS): The former Basseterre High School (BHS), located at Victoria Road, Basseterre, sits on the Basseterre Valley Aquifer. The soon to be built state-of-the-art BHS at Pond’s Extension in East Basseterre will also be built on the Basseterre Valley Aquifer. So, what is the controversy?

Some claim that the Basseterre Valley Aquifer will be contaminated by the building of the new BHS on it, while respected experts in the field, including a group of top experienced water engineers, who did the feasibility studies, say that the water contamination risk is literally non-existent.

ST. KITTS AND NEVIS LOOKS TO ATTRACT ADDITIONAL INTERNATIONALLY ACCREDITED TERTIARY LEVEL INSTITUTIONS

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, December 4, 2018 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis is targeting tertiary-level education to play a key role in the expansion plan for the Federation’s economy going forward, says Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris.

“We are open to welcoming more schools of learning, more participants in the purveying of quality education in St. Kitts and Nevis,” Prime Minister Harris said, while delivering remarks during a November 29 breakfast meeting hosted by Adtalem Global Education Inc, the parent company of Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM).

RUSVM has been based in St. Kitts since 1983. Since then, it has graduated roughly 5,000 veterinarians who work around the world.

EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION EXHIBITION PROMOTES INTERACTIVE LESSONS IN CLASSROOMS
Basseterre, St. Kitts, December 01, 2018 (SKNIS): Second-year student teachers of the Early Childhood Education Programme at the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College (CFBC) got an early start in showcasing their teaching skills during a Creative Arts and Children’s Literature exhibition held at the college.

At the November 30th event, Millicent Dawson, who teaches Early Childhood Children’s Literature, Language Arts, Reading and Decoding at the college, stated that Creative Arts and Children’s Literature were on display as both courses complement each other.

For the exhibition, the student teachers were required to produce 10 books around a particular theme for Children’s Literature. They were asked to add props and other items and materials that centred around the theme and can be easily manipulated by children. The student teachers were also required to write a book.

MINISTER’S YOUTH FORUM INSPIRES PARTICIPANTS TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN ST. KITTS AND NEVIS

Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 29, 2018 (SKNIS): Participants at Wednesday’s (November 28, 2018) 2nd Annual Minister’s Youth Forum expressed their appreciation for the interactive session that saw important information being shared by the leadership of the Department of Youth Empowerment and the Ministry of Youth relating to government’s youth development agenda.

Dvonne Cornelius, a youth activist based in Nevis, was among the more than 100 youth who attended the forum held at the Ocean Terrace Inn.

“Today’s forum was very informative,” he said. “I got the opportunity to learn about the different ideas that will be implemented in the education sector in St. Kitts and Nevis. It was very good to be a part of – having the young people share their ideas and perspectives on ways how to make the education sector better.”

RUSVM THANKS ST. KITTS AND NEVIS FOR OPENING UP ITS DOORS TO THE STUDENTS OF DOMINICA’S STORM-AFFECTED CAMPUS

 

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, November 29, 2018 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – Adtalem Global Education Inc, the parent company of Ross University School of Medicine (RUSM), is saying a big thank you to the Government and people of St. Kitts and Nevis for the level of hospitality and goodwill extended to the students and faculty, who were temporarily relocated here in 2017 from the Dominica-based campus.

In October of last year, more than eleven hundred (1,100) medical students and over 150 faculty and staff of the Ross University School of Medicine came to St. Kitts and Nevis to continue their classes onboard the GNV Excellent vessel, after the institution’s campus in Dominica suffered severe damages during the passage of Hurricane Maria.
