MINISTRY OF NATIONAL SECURITY TO EXPAND ITS POPULAR EXPLORERS YOUTH CLUB INITIATIVE

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, October 22, 2018 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – With five clubs successfully launched to date in St. Kitts, the Ministry of National Security is putting plans in place to further expand its Explorers Youth Clubs initiative across other communities on the island. More than 350 children between the ages of 3 and 19 years old are currently members of the Explorers Youth Clubs.

Basseterre, St. Kitts, October 18, 2018 (SKNIS): The eighty-five (85) primary school students who were recipients of Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris’ 15^th Help-a-Child Programme on Wednesday, October 17, at the Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Bourryeau, were encouraged to play their part in their education as it is important to remain committed to the pursuit of academic goals.

“I have the deepest respect for teachers,” Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris said yesterday, Wednesday, October 17th, 2018, while delivering a touching tribute to teachers at the 15th Annual Help-a-Child Program Primary School Scholarship Award Ceremony. And on Wednesday, October 17, during the ceremony for the 15^th edition of the annual scholarship award initiative, that young man, Mr. Tahjaune Walters, showed his appreciation to Prime Minister Harris with the presentation of a plaque in recognition of Dr. Harris’ commitment to assisting the youths of his Constituency realize their full academic potential.

Prime Minister Harris underscores importance of parents’ role in their children’s lives

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, October 18, 2018 (PLP PR Media Inc.) — Prime Minister Dr the Hon Timothy Harris has once again reiterated that parents play a very important role in the lives of their children, while observing that positive motivation does not require a parent to be an expert in the area he is or she is attempting to help their children.

“You do not have to know the modern maths or the modern English to encourage your child to learn,” said Dr Harris. He stated that a parent could help their child by asking the right questions, and also by asking if the child has any homework. A loving and caring parent should also visit the teacher to ask how the child is doing, noting that it can provide positive motivation to the child.
