Dr. Drew promises reinstatement of one-to-one laps in high schools in new Labour Government

BASSASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, JULY 19TH 2017 – A new St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party administration will reinstate the one-to-one lap top programme for students entering the first forms of all high schools in the Federation.
This assurance from the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) caretaker for St. Christopher 8, Dr. Terrance Drew who said the young people must have easy access to information technology, who was critical of the Timothy Harris PLP/CCM/PAM coalition for stopping the programme.
“Our young people are complaining that they and their parents cannot afford to purchase laptops or desktop computers. Our students have to resort to going by neighbours to do or complete assignments or to research,” said Dr. Drew.

GOVERNOR GENERAL SEATON SAYS CELEBRATING EXCELLENCE IS VITAL

Basseterre, St. Kitts, July 13, 2017 (SKNIS): Governor General, His Excellency Sir S. W. Tapley Seaton, commended the nation’s top student athletes who were awarded for outstanding performances at the 2016-2017 Department of Sports Excellence Awards.

The awards ceremony was held on Wednesday, July 13, at Government House and also recognized key contributors to the success of the Department of Sports 2016-2017 programmes. Sir Tapley said he was honoured to host the ceremony at his official residence for the second consecutive year since it was revived in 2016.

SUMMER SAFETY PROGRAMME CLOSES ON HIGH NOTE AS STUDENTS SHOWCASE LESSONS LEARNT

Basseterre, St. Kitts, July 14, 2017 (SKNIS): More than 500 children filled the streets of the capital city Basseterre on Friday (July 14) as they proudly displayed signs, head dresses and t-shirts that promoted safety tips learnt during the Summer Safety Programme.

The march climaxed the July 10 to 14, half day programme organized by the St. Kitts and Nevis Fire and Rescue Services. Back at the Basseterre Fire Station, several students took to the microphone to share with parents, sponsor representatives and government officials attending the closing ceremony, some of what they learned.

Two more Nevisian youths to benefit from MUA/NIA Scholarship
NIA CHARLESTOWN NEVIS (JULY 05, 2017) — Oresia Stapleton and Yolinda Liburd join the list of students who benefit from the Medical University of the Americas/Nevis Island Administration (MUA/NIA) Scholarship, a facility which is available since 1998.
They were announced as the annual scholarship’s awardees for 2017 by Mrs. Nicole Slack-Liburd, Chairperson for the MUA/NIA Scholarship Committee and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, at the Legal Department’s conference room on July 05, 2017.
