SKN SMART SHOPPER APP WITH PRICE TRACKING FEATURE NOW AVAILABLE FOR FREE DOWNLOAD

Basseterre, Saint Kitts, February 20, 2026 (SKNIS): The SKN Smart Shopper App is now available for download for all devices as the Department of Consumer Affairs in St. Kitts places the right to choose and the right to information directly in the hands of consumers.

The new mobile app, as well as a new website, www.consumeraffairs.gov.kn, were launched on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at a ceremony at the CUNA Caribbean Conference Centre. The platforms represent a significant shift in how consumer protection is delivered, moving from traditional, manual processes to a user-friendly and simple to understand technology-driven, transparent, consumer-centred system.

A key feature of the digital platform is the Price Tracker. It allows consumers to track the cost of various products in the essential basket of goods across supermarkets and retail outlets in the urban and rural areas. If the price of a good drops, an alert will be sent to notify consumers who turn on this feature. The price of unleaded gasoline can also be accessed from the app. Also, persons can file secure and confidential complaints directly to the department about unfair practices or other infractions using the app or website. If they are unsure of the law, the regulation can easily be accessed from the device.

Senior Minister and Minister of Trade and Consumer Affairs, the Right Honourable Dr. Denzil Douglas, applauded everyone involved in the creation of the new app and website, noting that they are a landmark achievement in how the Consumer Affairs Department conducts business.

“These particular platforms are specifically designed to uphold and automate the fundamental rights of the consumer, which is critically important to us as a government,” Dr. Douglas stated.

He added that the government does not intend to impede the right of businesses to make a profit, but rather robust regulation is essential to a healthy economy.

“Effective oversight boosts consumer confidence as a shopper should be able to trust that every item on a shelf is fresh, accurately labelled, and correctly priced,” said the senior minister. “It is my hope that the public will find these tools both intuitive and indispensable, as we bridge that gap between traditional paper-based workflows and a streamlined digital future.”

The SKN Smart Shopper can be downloaded for free from the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. Everyone is strongly encouraged to get the app and use its features to shop smarter. Alternatively, the same features are available on the website www.consumeraffairs.gov.kn
