SKN Carnival Committee launched; Patrons can expect a return of all major events for Sugar Mas 51
St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): St.Kitts-Nevis National Carnival ‘Sugar Mas’ has launched its committee members for the upcoming carnival season, Friday December 2 2022 to Tuesday January 3 2023.
Ms Shannon Hawley returns as the chairperson of the St.Kitts-Nevis National Carnival Committee with responsibility for Sponsorship and Marketing. Viera Galloway will serve as Deputy Chair of the Carnival committee, Chair of VIP, Catering and Special Events.Clytie Gilbert to serve as Chair of Finance, Accreditation & Gates, Vincent Fough to serve as the Chair of Street Activities and Jonette Boyd- Representative from the Ministry of Tourism, Chair of International Marketing & Public Relations. Also on the committee is Marissa Hobson-Newman Co-Chair of the National Carnival Queen & Swimwear Pageants, Javon Liburd Co-Chair of the National Carnival Talented Teen Pageant, Loftus Bridgewater Chair of Logistics, Production & Vendors, O’Grenville Browne Chair of Calypso & Soca Development and Cartel Forde Chair of Panorama.
After a two year hiatus, patrons can expect the staging of all major Carnival events. These events include, National Carnival Pageant, Soca and Calypso Monarch, Jouvert, Panorama, Junior Carnival Parade and the Grand Carnival Street Parade. Major Fringe events will also return to the Sugar Mas Calendar.
According to a press release on the National Carnival’s website, “The Carnival Calendar of Events will be released in the near future, following a series of planned stakeholder meetings.” The press release also confirmed several meetings between the new Minister of Creative Economy- Hon. Samal Duggins and the Carnival Committee’s Chairperson Shannon Hawley as preparation are ongoing for a full return to the country’s premier festival.
The 2022 Carnival slogan is Celebrate as one for Sugar Mas 51 by Zewani Morton.

14 participating teams brought high excitement and drama for all to remember. I am happy to have supported the League for 27 years. It’s now the longest surviving and best organized #Domino League.
The general public is asked to note that the main Sunday Morning Worship experience at the Antioch Baptist Church begins at 9 a.m. this Sunday, September 18, 2022.
