Port of Spain, Trinidad (August 21, 2019)—Carifesta 14 has opened windows of opportunity for many regional product vendors through a Caribbean stage that has global reach.

Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 19, 2019 (SKNIS):  The official Calendar of Events for the 36th Anniversary of Independence of St. Kitts and Nevis was officially released on Saturday, August 17, with a wide range of activities.

The 36th Anniversary of Independence will be celebrated under the theme: “Unify, Transform, Enrich: Uplifting Communities for Independence 36”

Activities will spread throughout September and run into November, thereby allowing for more participation and greater sensitization of people towards the importance of Independence, patriotism and love of country.

A number of grand events are included on the calendar as is the tradition. National Heroes Day, which is celebrated on September 16 every year, is a commemorative event where the National Heroes of St. Kitts and Nevis are honoured for their pioneering spirit and enormous contribution to nation building. Also, Independence Day, observed on September 19 each year allows for citizens and residents to see members of the security forces and other organizations pay tribute to the nation during the Independence Day Parade.  The Independence State Service slated for September 15 in Nevis, and the Prime Minister’s Independence Lecture Series on September 12 are also grand events on the calendar.  A National Heroes Concert is slated for September 15 at the Nevis Cultural Village

Several activities apart from the usual patriotic programmes in schools cater to young persons. Such activities include, but are not limited to, a night of elocution on September 26 with the finals on October 03, School beautification on September 23, as well as a night of dance on October 27.  There will also be the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force (SKNDF) Cadet Corps Flag Raising Ceremony on September 16.

Citizens and residents are encouraged to go out and support as many of the events as possible

Port of Spain, Trinidad (August 19, 2019)—The SKN All Star Band and their vocalists- Rucas HE (Casim Pemberton) and Delly Ranks (real name Delroy Huggins)- were in imperious form as they “came, conquered and delivered” according to the Trinidadian Master of Ceremonies- while giving a high energy performance that spoke to intra-regional relations.
