Police Investigating a Fatal Shooting in Newtown Fisheries Complex

Police has confirm that a shooting incident occurred at the Fisheries Complex in Newtown between 5:30PM and 6PM. Shaquille Chumney (male) has been confirmed as deceased. One other person, Neal Nicholls, was wounded in one of his legs. Additional details will be provided in a formal media release.

Two men received gun shot at the Newtown Fisheries. One was taken to the JNF Hospital and the succumb to his injuries

Jamal Slack of Fiennes Avenue, Basseterre, St. Kitts, has been sentenced to His Majesty’s
Prison for two (2) counts of Demanding with Menace and one (1) count of Robbery. The
offences were committed on June 22nd, 2020, and July 24th, 2020, respectively.

KITANA PONDE CHARGED FOR UNLAWFUL COMMUNICATION


The Police have charged Kitana Ponde of Central Street, Basseterre, St. Kitts, with three (3) offences related to Unlawful Communication: To Send an Electronic Communication to wit, a Video; To Send an Electronic Communication to wit, a Picture; and To Send an Electronic Communication to wit, a Whatsapp message with Intent to Harass. The offences were committed between November 1st, 2023, and March 28th, 2024.


Ms Ponde’s charges were laid at the Basseterre Police Station on April 12th, 2024.

The Police are investigating two (2) separate shooting incidents that occurred on St. Kitts that claimed the lives of two (2) males and left one (1) injured. The first incident took place at the Basseterre Bus and Ferry Terminal between the hours of 11:30PM on April 6th, 2024, and 12AM on April 7th, 2024.
