POLICE INVESTIGATE REPORT OF DRONE FLYING OVER DEPUTY PREMIER’S HOUSE

Basseterre, St. Kitts, December 05, 2017 (RSCNPF): Police in Nevis are investigating a report made by Sharon Brantley, wife of Deputy Premier of Nevis, Mark Brantley, that an unmanned drone was spotted hovering feet away over their family home in Montpelier. As a result, police began their investigations and U.S. citizen, Matthew MacMillan, was held for questioning regarding the matter. He was released late Monday (November 05).

The Police will continue to take seriously all reports of harassment and threats of harassment made by citizens and residents of Nevis. The police are, therefore, asking the public and, especially operators of drones, to act responsibly so that the safety and security of all citizens and residents is maintained.

‭Appeal court to hear nearly 50 matters when it sits in St. Kitts next week

Basseterre, St. Kitts, December 2, 2017 – Nearly 50 matters will come before The Eastern Caribbean Court of Appeal during a one-week sitting in Basseterre next week.

Two panels of appeal court judges will tackle some 49 matters between December 4th and 8th at the Sir Lee Llewellyn Moore Judicial and Legal Services Complex.

Armed masked robbers storm Amory Bakery

Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 30, 2017 – Armed men stormed Amory Bakers on Victoria Road, downtown Basseterre and held up employees early Thursday night.

Multiple reports state that the robbers wore masks.

It is not known whether the robbers made their escape with money or whether any of the employees was injured.

Liburd who was buried on Monday was the Federation’s sixth businessman killed in 2017

Charlestown, Nevis, November 29, 2017 – Local huckster, 56-year-old Lincoln Liburd, who was gunned down in a house in Zetland’s, Gingerland, Nevis, on November 17, was the sixth businessman murdered in the Federation for 2017.

His bullet-riddled body was discovered on the road, some distance away from a bus that sold clothing and other items.

STATEMENT ON FIRE AT WEST BASSETERRE CONSTITUENCY OFFICE

At about 2:00am on Monday 27 November 2017, through the vigilance of surrounding neighbours, I was alerted of a fire at the eastern side of the West Basseterre Constituency Office. The Fire & Rescue Department attended the fire just after 2:00am and quickly brought the fire under control.
