Federation registers murder #22 three hours after PM Harris said crime was trending down

Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 26, 2017 – Less than three hours after St. Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris made a misleading statement at an award ceremony for police officers, that crime was trending down, the Federation recorded murder number 22 for 2017 on Saturday night.

Whilst attending a community get together in Cane Garden last night, I received an urgent call that our beloved Charlestown Secondary School was on fire. I rushed to the scene and was pleased that our fire services responded early enough to control the fire before it consumed the entire school. I warmly congratulate our fire services team for their quick action.

Shooting victims including one dead, identified

Charlestown/Basseterre, November 19, 2017 – Police have identified the man gunned down in Nevis last Friday afternoon.

He is Lincoln Liburd, a 56-year-old huckster from Craddock Road, Charlestown.

Residents of Zetlands Village in Gingerland reported hearing the sound of shots. At the scene, a bus owned by Liburd was discovered on the road. During a search of the area, police discovered his body some distance away from his vehicle which he used to sell clothes and other items around the island.
