SECURITY AT TOURIST ATTRACTIONS IN ST. KITTS AND NEVIS BEEFED UP WITH 24 NEW ISLAND CONSTABLES
Basseterre, St. Kitts, February 20, 2019 (SKNIS): Twenty-four (24) new island constables were sworn in at Government House on Monday, February 18, 2019 to ensure first and foremost that visitors to the country’s tourist attractions are kept safe. This is historic as they are the first island constables to be appointed specifically to tourism related areas.

Upon the administration of the oath and reception of instruments of appointment for the island constables, Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris underscored the importance of keeping the country’s visitors safe, especially at its tourist historical sites, while speaking at the Constituency # 9 Community Consultation held at the St. Paul’s Anglican Church Hall in Charlestown, Nevis, on February 18.

Basseterre, St. Kitts, February 19, 2019 (SKNIS): The diplomatic footprint of St. Kitts and Nevis has grown tremendously since 2015 with the signing of new diplomatic relations with 34 countries and the addition of some 15 visa free waiver arrangements, said Minister of Foreign Affairs and Aviation, the Honourable Mark Brantley, during a community consultation with the Federal Cabinet held in Nevis on Monday, February 18.

Basseterre, St. Kitts, February 19, 2019 (SKNIS): Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris, has emphasized the responsibility of parents to protect their child or children from antisocial elements by instilling good values and discipline while showing them love.“I want to invite all parents and guardians to pay more attention to your children, to their behaviour and conduct,” Dr. Harris said, noting that children need the love and support from the family.

The prime minister, who also holds the portfolio for National Security, noted that particular concern should extend to young people who are not working, yet are bringing money regularly into the house.

AG BYRON SAYS SIGNING ON TO APPELLATE JURISDICTION OF CCJ ULTIMATELY MUST REFLECT THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE 
Basseterre, St. Kitts, February 19, 2019 (SKNIS): Attorney General of St. Kitts and Nevis, Honourable Vincent Byron, has suggested that if the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis were to sign on to the appellate jurisdiction of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) the decision must be reflective of the will of the people.

The subject of the CCJ was one of myriad of issues raised by young people attending a recent National Consultation on YOUth Forum with the Federal Cabinet of Ministers at the Royal St. Kitts Hotel on February 14. The forum formed part of a calendar of activities for the government’s fourth anniversary in office.

Basseterre, St. Kitts, February 20, 2019 (SKNIS): St. Kitts and Nevis, under the CARICOM (Caribbean Community) chairmanship of Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris, is finalizing plans to host the 30th Inter-Sessional Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the CARICOM, which takes place from 26-27th February 2019, at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort and Royal Beach Casino.
