PRIME MINISTER HARRIS LOBBIES FOR FULL REGIONAL SUPPORT AT UN HIGH-LEVEL MEETING ON NCDs IN SEPTEMBER
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, July 9, 2018 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – The Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris, used the recently concluded Thirty-Ninth Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) from July 4-6 to advance discussions on the prevention and control of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) in the Caribbean region.

Prime Minister Harris, in his capacity as Lead Head in CARICOM’s Quasi-Cabinet for Human Resource Development and Health, called attention to the third United Nations (UN) High-Level Meeting on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) to be held on September 27, 2018, at the UN Headquarters, New York.

ST. KITTS AND NEVIS EXTENDS INDEPENDENCE CONGRATULATIONS TO THE REPUBLIC OF ARGENTINA

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, July 9, 2018 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – Prime Minister, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris, on behalf of the Government and people of St. Kitts and Nevis, has extended congratulations to the Government and people of the Republic of Argentina on the occasion of the country’s 202nd anniversary of Independence.

Argentina declared its Independence from Spain on July 9, 1816.

In extending congratulations to the President of Argentina, His Excellency Mauricio Macri, Prime Minister Harris stated that, “Despite the struggles faced during the pursuit of Argentina’s Independence, Argentina’s resilience and success are illustrated in its wealth of resources, infrastructure and development in a wide spectrum of fields, such as its rich culture, extraordinary health care system, technological advancement and electronic communications system.”

UWI PRAISES PRIME MINISTER HARRIS’ EFFORTS TO RESOLVE THE INSTITUTION’S DEBT CHALLENGES

 

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, July 9, 2018 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – St. Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris, has come in for high praises for his leadership role in finding appropriate solutions for the settlement of outstanding payments owed to the University of the West Indies (UWI) by regional governments.

Prime Minister Harris, CARICOM’s lead head for human resource development, was tasked with leading the settlement efforts at the 29th Inter-sessional Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM held in Haiti in February of this year.
